Fernando Alonso excited about the idea of participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Max Verstappen
Already a two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Fernando Alonso would be thrilled to return there with Max Verstappen as his teammate.
Fernando Alonso recently stated in an interview that he would like to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the reigning world champion, Max Verstappen.
Alonso has already won the endurance race twice in 2018 and 2019. He was driving for the Toyota team with his teammates Kazuki Nakajima and Sébastien Buemi, both former Formula 1 drivers.
Since his return in 2021, the Spaniard has focused on Formula 1 after a two-year break, a return to Le Mans is not something he excludes, especially if Verstappen were to participate with him.
“In the future, for sure, if there is an opportunity to race with Max, Alonso declared to the media.”
We are very good friends, we are always in contact. I would love to go to Le Mans with Max, if I do it again.
It would be an honor, you know that when you pass the car to your teammates, to go rest, you pass it to the best drivers, so your car is in good hands.
At the beginning of the year, Max Verstappen had participated in the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans race. while he was in the lead of the race, the Dutchman was disconnected from the servers and strongly criticized the organization of the race.
« They can’t even control their own game. It’s the third time it’s happened to me that I get disconnected from the game during this race. This will be the last time I participate, he declared.
