The American stable was supposed to celebrate a milestone in its history on Sunday, May 21st. The situation and the cancellation of the race in Imola postpones the festivities.
150 races already. Haas made an immediate impact upon entering the discipline in 2016. With points scored right from the first race, with Romain Grosjean behind the wheel in particular.
But the glory did not last very long within the American team. The team managed by Günther Steiner mainly experienced a lot of mishaps in seven years. We can notably mention the squabble with Nikita Mazepin following the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. But also the decrease in performance of the team over the seasons.
The team manager prefers to forget these negative points in order to focus on the positive when making an initial assessment. « What struck me was when we arrived at the race track in Melbourne in 2016 because we had so many people saying that we wouldn’t make it. »
« We succeeded, we’re still here and it makes me proud for the whole team. We scored points in our first race, which hasn’t happened as often before in the history of Formula 1. »
For me, it means a lot to create a team, it’s a dream for many, and I was able to do it thanks to Gene Haas [the owner]. We are in a good position now and we are just trying to become stronger and stronger, and we will.
The Italian also sets goals for the rest of his Formula 1 adventure. He is aiming for a first victory. « «I don’t know when it will happen and I’m not going to say it’s this season or next season, but at some point, it will happen with Haas,» he says.
Since its arrival in F1, the team has scored 245 points, with a 4th place as its best result.
