A documentary series on the F1 Academy confirmed
Formula 1 has announced a partnership with production company Hello Sunshine for a documentary series on the new F1 Academy.
The F1 Academy started last weekend at the Red Bull Ring with 15 female drivers. The championship will include six more races this year before joining the F1 calendar next season.
In order to increase interest and exposure for the participants, the new documentary series will follow each driver to provide exclusive access behind the scenes and highlight the dramatic side of the races, as well as the personal stories of the pilots.
American actress, producer, and businesswoman Reese Witherspoon will be an executive producer alongside Isabelle Stewart, responsible for digital content at F1, and the series will likely follow the successful formula presented by Drive to Survive on Netflix.
Susie Wolff wants to inspire through the F1 Academy
“The F1 Academy will revolutionize the motorsport industry by creating the best possible structure to discover and develop female talent on and off the circuits,” said Susie Wolff, General Manager of the F1 Academy.
We want to inspire women around the world to pursue their dreams, and by partnering with Hello Sunshine (the production company), we will reach a global audience and empower the next generation of young women to break barriers in motorsport and beyond.
Sarah Harden, CEO of Hello Sunshine, added: “Formula 1 has established itself not only as a global powerhouse but also as a forward-thinking competition that is committed to creating equal opportunities for women.”
« As the F1 Academy women prepare to make history, we are honored to have the opportunity to document the many captivating stories. »
