Charles Leclerc: “Red Bull is in another world”
The Ferrari driver was unable to compete against the top speed and performance of the two Red Bulls in Baku.
Finally, his first podium this season. In Baku, Charles Leclerc managed to forget Ferrari’s very poor start to the season. He started from pole position but was unable to maintain this advantage for long. Almost immediately overtaken by the two Red Bulls, he dropped to third place.
With the safety car, he moved up to second place, but only for a few moments.
Once again, [Red Bull] are in another world. A good qualifying lap allowed us to be in front, but we don’t have the pace to keep up with them. Yesterday, I found something and we’re really focused on finding more performance. When I see the gap they’ve created, I don’t think they’ve shown everything, they weren’t pushing to the limit.
At the end of the race, Fernando Alonso displayed a blazing pace and quickly made up ground on the Ferrari number 16. However, the increase in pace from the Spaniard came too late in the race.
He was attacking. I knew what his intentions were because he always does that.
