No Monoplace B for Ferrari, but improvements are coming

The Scuderia is experiencing one of its worst starts to the season. The car lacks performance compared to the Red Bull. But for Fred Vasseur, the team boss, there is no question of bringing in a model B.

No Monoplace B for Ferrari, but improvements are coming

Already far from Red Bull. In just three races, the Scuderia seems to be lagging behind its main rival for the world title. After scoring zero points in Melbourne, the Italian team only has 26 points in the standings. They are nearly 30 points behind the leading trio.

On the three tracks used at the beginning of the year, the Ferrari has never really been able to compete against Red Bull, Aston Martin, and even Ferrari itself. Carlos Sainz shares the same opinion and had asked for some changes to be made on his car. A complete overhaul? Out of the question for his boss, Fred Vasseur.

« We have a stream of developments to come; not for Baku, as we already have the aerodynamic package for this level of support, and with the sprint race it’s not easy, but for Miami, Imola – not Monaco – and Barcelona. At each race, we will have an upgrade on the car », indicated the Frenchman to Motorsport.com.

Budget cap, wind tunnel: difficulties

We stick to the plan. We have made adjustments regarding balance and behavior, and it was much better in Melbourne. We will continue in this direction. It’s not a B car, if that’s what you mean. We won’t come up with something completely different. We will continue to update this one, and we will try to do it extensively.

The former boss of Alfa Romeo indicates that with a capped budget or reduced wind tunnel time, it would not be an easy thing to achieve.
