Many engine components have been changed on Nyck de Vries’ car
A few moments before the qualifications, AlphaTauri decided to replace most of the parts on their Dutch driver's car. He will not be penalized for these changes.
From the second Grand Prix of the season, many engine components were changed. First at Ferrari, who had reliability issues, then McLaren on Lando Norris’ car. The reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, was not spared either after gearbox problems during Saturday’s session in Jeddah.
Another driver also experienced numerous changes to his car, which cost him valuable minutes of track time. This is Nyck de Vries. During the third practice session, AlphaTauri discovered an issue with the Dutchman’s engine and proceeded to replace it.
The team based in Faenza took the opportunity to also replace the turbo, MGU-H, MGU-K, a new electronic control unit, and a new set of exhausts. Despite all these changes, Nyck de Vries will not receive a penalty as he remains within the limits allowed by the regulations.
