SkySports sees Lewis Hamilton heading to Ferrari
Simon Lazenby, presenter at SkySports, does not rule out a transfer of Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari if Mercedes does not improve their car.
Is Lewis Hamilton going to be decked out in red? Today, it seems unlikely given how strong his relationship is with his team. For the past 10 years, the British driver has been racing in the colors of Mercedes, with whom he has won seven world titles.
However, these strong relationships that he maintains and displays, notably with his boss, Toto Wolff, wouldn’t be everything. That’s at least the opinion of Simon Lazenby, presenter at SkySports. He could see him heading to Scuderia.
« Not to Aston Martin, but how can you exclude a transfer to Ferrari if [Mercedes] stays the way it is? He is so desperate for this eighth title that if Ferrari manages to stay in the race and they were the closest to Red Bull [he could go there], he thinks in the podcast channel after the Bahrain Grand Prix.
« He has not yet put his pen to paper on his contract [for 2024]. He definitely waits to see how this year’s car will evolve. I think the excellent relationship with the team and Toto [Wolff] will continue, but I don’t think we can exclude a move to Ferrari. For drivers, signing with Ferrari is a dream, and [Hamilton] has already said it. »
For now, Lewis Hamilton is still a Mercedes driver, although he has not signed an extension with the German team for post-2023. The seven-time world champion is expected to stay in the sport, as he has reiterated his love for it many times. The Canal+ consultants, on the other hand, see him staying until he wins his eighth world title.
