Fernando Alonso voted driver of the day in Bahrain
For the first race of the season, Fernando Alonso showed that despite being 41 years old, he was a top-notch driver.
Fernando Alonso proves that his age is just a number. At 41 years old, the Spanish driver shone during the Bahrain Grand Prix tests before confirming his good form during the qualifying sessions. Starting in fifth position, he lost two places at the start, but quickly made up for his mistake.
The double world champion proved that he still had all his form by making impressive overtakes, notably on Lewis Hamilton to snatch fourth place from him. The Aston Martin driver then went on to attack his compatriot Carlos Sainz to secure his 99th career podium.
He logically received the “Driver of the Day” title, with 53% of the votes. “I am super proud of you,” he affirmed to his team upon arrival.
