Alpine could supply its engines to Andretti-Cadillac

After losing the contracts with AlphaTauri and Red Bull, Alpine found itself without a customer. Since 2019, Renault has only supplied its engines to its team, Renault F1 Team, until 2020, and then Alpine from 2021. But that could soon change.

During the unveiling of the brand new race car, this Thursday, February 16th, Laurent Rossi, the CEO of Alpine, hinted that a new customer might have been found. It would be Andretti-Cadillac. We have agreed that if they obtain their license to compete in Formula 1, we will provide them with a power unit, he announced to Reuters.

But it is up to them to show that they can join the Formula 1 circus, and for that, they must go through the different stages, the established process where they have to submit their application and show that they bring value to F1 and the teams in general.

« It is up to them to prove it and for others to evaluate. If they join us, we will be happy to join them. If they don’t, it means that overall, it didn’t work. »

Currently, Andretti-Cadillac is still facing reluctance from several teams and officials in the sport, even though Formula 1 has announced a recruitment process to welcome an 11th team on the grid.
