McLaren will not extend its partnership with Gulf
The Formula 1 world had welcomed the collaboration between McLaren and its historic partner Gulf in 2020. The two entities will not be renewing their sponsorship contract for 2023.
McLaren is one of the teams that has made history in Formula 1 with its successes, iconic race cars, and legendary drivers. It has also collaborated with renowned partners such as Gulf. The Woking team began its collaboration with the famous oil company in the 1960s before once again donning the blue and orange colors on its race cars since the Silverstone Grand Prix in 2020.
An emblematic livery
The highlight of this partnership comes during the Monaco Grand Prix in 2021. The MCL35 showcases a unique livery in Gulf colors. The Formula 1 world is amazed by this car, which contrasts with a grid of monoposts with more traditional liveries. It is a real commercial success for both entities, making a lasting impression on fans worldwide.
A successful partnership
McLaren and Gulf are parting ways after a long and successful collaboration. Zak Brown is pleased with this historic partnership coming to an end. He is not opposed to a new partnership with this iconic brand in the future.
« We have recorded so many iconic moments together, including our famous Monaco livery in 2021. Although it may seem like a natural ending point for the partnership, there is always room to welcome old friends back as we have done before.
Mike Jones, the CEO of Gulf, declares: « Although we have shared many incredible moments, including the iconic Monaco livery and our custom-made merchandise collections, the true reward has come from engaging with the unmatched passion of the fans and putting them at the heart of everything we have done.
