Nicholas Latifi’s last but not ideal race

A not ideal 61st Grand Prix. Last weekend, in Abu Dhabi, Nicholas Latifi was completing his final laps behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car. While he had a decent race, his closing moments in the discipline were disrupted due to Mick Schumacher.

The German, while attempting to overtake at turn 4, gently collided with the rear of the Williams. The impact nevertheless sent both cars into a spin. The Canadian’s car went on to hit the protective walls.

He was still able to leave. His car was not damaged in the accident. However, he was forced to retire a few laps from the end due to an electrical problem.

« It certainly wasn’t an ideal final race. But once again, we simply didn’t have the pace. We struggled in the beginning, losing touch with the peloton, and then of course there was the incident with Mick, which really took me out of the fight, explains the Canadian.

We had an electrical problem in the end. I was losing the car’s electronics and there was a lot of smoke in the cockpit. But I managed to bring it back to the pit. It’s not exactly how I imagined my last race, but that’s how it goes.

Nicholas Latifi’s career comes to an unfortunate end with a retirement. He finished the 2022 season in 20th place, scoring two points in Japan.
