Sergio Perez wants to make a strong start to the 2023 season
The Mexican would like to play for the title in 2023. But he believes that his team will have to keep up its performance and work towards it.
He started the 2022 season on a good note, before experiencing a slump. Sergio Perez, since his arrival at Red Bull, continues to gain momentum, despite some mixed results.
This year, he has won twice, in Monaco and Singapore. He is in contention to finish second in the world championship. The battle will take place in Abu Dhabi against Charles Leclerc. The Mexican could then secure his first runner-up title. However, what interests him is the first place in the championship.
“It started very well this year. Some reliability issues at the beginning, but things seemed to be on the right track,” says the Mexican.
We were in the mix for the championship from the beginning. I had a few bad races that really discouraged me from competing for the championship.
So, there is work to be done in this regard with the team to ensure that we can maintain this consistency and that we can come back next year and compete for the title if we were to have a similar level of car next year.
It is important that we finish our season in style so that we can come back next year and start strong throughout the season.
The Red Bull driver will have to face his main rival, Max Verstappen, with whom relations became tense during the Brazilian Grand Prix. The number 11 driver accused the Dutchman of not letting him pass to maintain an advantage in the championship against Charles Leclerc.
