Singapore Grand Prix: Sergio Pérez voted driver of the day
Thanks to his victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, Sergio Pérez clinches the title of Driver of the Day!
Sergio Pérez won his fourth career victory today behind the wheel of his Red Bull in changing conditions throughout the race.
The Mexican quickly takes control by taking the lead of the race ahead of Charles Leclerc at the start. He then escaped, along with his rival, several seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. And this happened several times after the restarts following safety car interventions.
By fitting the slick tires, Pérez was able to withstand the pressure put on by Charles Leclerc for about ten laps while maintaining his performing tyres. He was then no longer troubled towards the end of the race following Leclerc’s mistake. He even managed to widen a sufficient gap in case of a penalty that would demote him. The Mexican received compliments from his boss Christian Horner, who said it was the best race of his career.
It is therefore logical that the Red Bull driver wins the Driver of the Day title with 22% of the votes, thus leaving some suspense for the World Champion title.
