Nicholas Latifi will be penalized in Japan
The Canadian, judged responsible for the accident with Guanyu Zhou, will be penalized with a five-place drop in Japan.
The latest Grand Prix races have been difficult for Nicholas Latifi. The Canadian, who is living his final moments in Formula 1, is making a mark. But not in a good way. During the Singapore Grand Prix, the Williams driver collided with Guanyu Zhou. The impact damaged both cars, forcing both men to retire.
Adjudged responsible for the accident, Nicholas Latifi was summoned before the commissioners to explain the incident. The Canadian thus received a penalty for the next Grand Prix as he did not finish in Singapore.
So he will start the race at Suzuka with a handicap of five positions. Two penalty points have been added to his super license. His total is now 3 out of the 12 allowed before the Grand Prix suspension.
