Red Bull assures that they did not exceed the budget limit

This is a new twist in the budget cap affair. At the beginning of the weekend, several sources are pointing the finger at Aston Martin and especially Red Bull for having exceeded it during the 2021 season.

For now, these are only assumptions and the FIA has not made any official announcement. The organization should react and provide certificates to the different teams proving that they have respected the financial assessment. Red Bull also claims that they will have it.

« I certainly have no knowledge of [a violation of the Financial Regulations]. All accounts were submitted last March. So it has been a long process with the FIA, and we are in the middle of this process as we speak. They are following this process rightfully, and I believe that next week, in the middle of next week, they will issue the certificates. Therefore, I believe that our statement was definitely within the limit. And it is up to the FIA, of course, to follow their process, which they are currently doing », stated Christian Horner, the boss of Red Bull, to Sky Sports F1.

« […]. But we are confident in our statement. And as I said, the FIA is in the midst of the process. And I think there will always be rumors, I have heard about major violations and other things. I am absolutely not aware of this. We are very confident in our statement. »

As a reminder, the teams were not supposed to exceed 146.2 million euros over the year.
