Heading towards the 100th race for Pierre Gasly
The French driver will participate in his 100th Grand Prix during the race in Belgium.
It’s a new milestone that AlphaTauri driver is going to achieve. This Sunday, barring any issues, Pierre Gasly should be participating in his 100th Formula 1 race.
Since his arrival in the discipline at the end of 2017, replacing Daniil Kvyat, the Frenchman has experienced ups and downs. While the situation was in his favor at the beginning of his F1 career with Toro Rosso, with incredible results such as his fourth place in Bahrain in 2018, his move to the parent team hasn’t been as glorious.
Alongside Max Verstappen, the Normandian driver struggled to find his place. From the pre-season tests, he lost control of his car and crashed it into the tyre wall. Throughout the season, he couldn’t seem to figure out the manual and ended up finishing far behind his teammate each time.
He is then replaced by Alex Albon and returns to Toro Rosso. He finds a car that suits him and with a little luck, he obtains his first podium in Brazil, battling for second place with Lewis Hamilton. A few months later, in Monza, he achieves the ultimate goal with a victory in front of Carlos Sainz. Finally, in Azerbaijan last year, he climbs onto the third step of the podium at the end of a completely insane race.
But, this year, it seems difficult for him to secure a new podium due to the lack of progress on his AlphaTauri.
