A 100% Belgian trophy
The Belgian company Gérondal created a trophy made with materials found near the Spa circuit.
Made with whatever comes to hand. It is with this idea that the Belgian company Gérondal has created the next trophy that will be awarded to the three men on the podium of the Belgium Grand Prix.
This one is made up of a portion of the old asphalt from the Raidillon that has since undergone some modifications, and it takes on the shape of the track. The trophy is also made of wood, and not just any wood. It comes from one of the oldest oak trees in Stavelot, one of the villages located near Spa.
The last compound is undoubtedly the one that is closest to our hearts, as it consists of water taken from the Eau Rouge, a stream that gave its name to the world-famous turn, explains Pierre Gérondal, the manufacturer.
Contrary to the other trophies of the season, the professional did not want any metal and wanted to remain simple. We didn’t want just a shiny piece of metal, but still needed to keep something lightweight. This trophy pays tribute to the centenary of the most beautiful circuit in the world, which could not celebrate its 100th anniversary properly in 2021.
