The Charade circuit will regain its former glory
The association Agissons pour Charade is going to repaint the wall of the Manson Curve, with BP's colors.
He is one of the gems of French motor racing. Located on the heights of Clermont-Ferrand, the Charade Circuit is considered as the most beautiful circuit in the world by Stirling Moss. The Auvergne rollercoaster hosted four F1 races before Helmut Marko lost an eye there in 1972, leading the drivers to subsequently boycott it.
64 years after its creation, a group of enthusiasts is working to perpetuate the legend of the race circuit. Thus, the association “Agissons pour Charade” is behind events and projects aimed at continuing the development of the site’s activities.
Charade, host of the French Goodwood?
It is within this context that the association, the circuit operators, and members of local authorities in Puy-de-Dôme have decided to renovate the concrete wall of the Manson Bend. During the golden age of Charade, it was painted in the yellow and green colors of BP. And soon, this wall, which has lost its colors, should receive a little touch-up paint.
« We obtained the authorizations from the Departmental Council and the BP. The work will be carried out by a letter painting company from Royat, starting in September. The wall will be repainted in yellow and green, just like it was in the past, for a cost of 3,000 euros », explained Jean-Pierre Brenas, municipal and metropolitan councilor of Clermont-Ferrand, and Jean-Paul Taillandier, vice-president of the association, to our colleagues at La Montagne.
