EA Sports announces cross-platform play for the game F1 2022
Codemasters and Electronic Arts confirm today the arrival of cross-play in EA SPORTS™ F1® 22 during the month of August, allowing more players from around the world, regardless of their console, to play together.
Before the final inclusion of this feature at the end of August, players can challenge their friends on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC during two organized trials from August 5th to 7th and from August 12th to 14th in the Social Race and Two-Player Career modes.
Lee Mather, senior creative director of F1 at Codemasters, said: “Cross-play brings together all of our players and allows them to determine who the best driver is across all platforms. Cross-play also allows us to create better matchmaking opportunities so that players can compete against other drivers with similar skills.”
This feature was highly requested by the community and was already present in several games. The addition of cross-play will improve matchmaking and allow players to gather with friends regardless of the platform.
Obviously, it is also possible to disable cross-play for those who wish to only battle opponents from the same family of devices.
This is the second announcement of the week from Electronic Arts and Codemasters, who had made an update to include the Portimao and Shanghai Grand Prix in F1 22.
