Alpine maintains its fourth place

It was complicated, but Alpine scored important points. This Sunday, at the Hungaroring, the French team opted for an unconventional strategy that put them in difficulty for a large part of the race. Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso even found themselves outside of the points for a considerable amount of time during the Grand Prix.

But their strategy ultimately proved beneficial as they made one fewer pit stop compared to their main rivals of the day. In the end, the Spanish driver finished eighth, just ahead of his teammate.

McLaren, who is Alpine’s main rival in the championship, has only scored points through Lando Norris, who finished seventh and also scored six points. Both teams remain with the same points gap in the championship.

“It is in itself a great achievement and gives us a real focus to continue and attack the rest of the year when we head to Belgium next month,” said Otmar Szafnauer, the team principal of Alpine.

It was a difficult race for us today with varied strategies in place throughout the field. We opted for a single pit stop with both cars, which meant we had to be quite cautious on both stints with the medium and hard tires to ensure we could reach the checkered flag with sufficient pace in hand.

The team based in Enstone now has 99 units at the time of the break.
