Alex Albon receives a fine for using the wrong tires
The Thai driver took part in the qualifications with a set of tires that had to be returned to Pirelli.
It is for very rare occurrences that Alexander Albon and Williams have been summoned before the stewards. During the qualifying session of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the team based in Grove mounted a set of tires that was supposed to be returned to Pirelli.
The officials became aware of this violation following the scanning of the barcode on each tire used during the weekend.
The technical delegate confirmed that it was likely an administrative error on the team’s part, as a set of unused physical tires was returned on time, according to regulation », stated a statement from the commissioners.
Following this offense, Alex Albon received a fine of €1,000, and his starting position will remain the same for tomorrow’s race. He will start from the 17th position.
