Max Verstappen betrayed by a power issue

Solid since the beginning of the weekend, it wasn’t the same in qualifying for Red Bull. The Austrian team combined strategic mistakes and bad luck during the fast lap exercise.

During Q2, Red Bull decided to keep Sergio Perez in their pit, believing that his lap time would be enough to qualify for Q3, but he eventually got eliminated at the end of the session. He will start in 11th position.

The sequel did not work out for the reigning world champion. His first attempt was unsuccessful due to a wheel lock-up at turn 2, causing him to lose valuable time against provisional poleman Carlos Sainz.

During his second attempt, the Dutchman complained on the radio about engine issues and claimed that he had no power. However, he still tried his turn but had to abort it and couldn’t improve on his first score.

This Sunday, he will therefore have to start from the 10th position and will have to drive an attacking race if he wants to catch up with his championship rival, Charles Leclerc, and limit the points gap.
