Charles Leclerc furious after his retirement in France

The black series continues. This season, Charles Leclerc doesn’t seem to have all the cards in hand to win the world championship. However, everything had started in the best possible way with two consecutive victories, before a first mistake in Imola.

Subsequently, the issues of reliability and strategic errors from his team didn’t help matters. The Monegasque driver lost many points to his competitor for the title, Max Verstappen. But in Austria, the number 16 driver set things straight with a brilliant victory.

Third abandonment

The good form of the Scuderia seemed to continue in France, following Charles Leclerc’s pole position, well assisted by his teammate. The race was going smoothly for the pole sitter before the 18th lap. As he was pulling away from the Dutch driver, he lost control of his Ferrari in the double right turn of Beausset.

At first, he blamed the accelerator on the radio before retracting his statement on Canal+ microphone. « I need to check the data, but nothing special. I just… made a mistake. I will look at the data to make sure. It’s a bit strange how I lose it. »

« We’ll do the calculations at the end of the season, but well, it’s certain that if we’re missing 25 or 30 points [at the end of the season], along with the mistake in Imola as well, overall, I know where it will come from, so I can only blame myself. We’ll see at the end of the championship, but if I stay at this level, it’s certain that I don’t deserve to win this championship. The level is very high, but well, two mistakes, between Imola and here, it hurts. We still need to analyze what happened with the car because, in fact, I couldn’t put it in reverse. But well, these are details, you shouldn’t crash a car into the wall before that. »

With this retirement, Charles Leclerc records his third pointless result of the season. He lets Max Verstappen slip away in the world championship and is 63 points behind, which is a little over two races.
