Austrian Grand Prix – Mick Schumacher driver of the day
Thanks to his fantastic sixth place at the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg, Mick Schumacher today clinches the title of driver of the day, as voted by F1 fans.
It’s a weekend that starts off on the right foot for Schumacher. During the qualifying for the sprint race, the young German driver finishes in seventh position, just behind his Haas teammate, Kevin Magnussen.
The next day, Mick Schumacher finishes ninth after a great battle with Lewis Hamilton and therefore started at the same position for the Grand Prix. The Sunday race looks promising as the Haas had a very good race pace.
And comes the race day. The German driver makes a good start and even overtakes his teammate Magnussen early in the race. And thanks to excellent race management and intelligence, as well as a solid strategy from Haas that allowed them to maintain a strong pace throughout the entire race, Mick Schumacher finishes in a magnificent sixth place, earning valuable points for his Haas team in the championship and thus, claiming the title of driver of the day!
This race seems to be like a liberation for Schumacher, one week after scoring his first points in F1 at Silverstone.
