A new record held by Lewis Hamilton
The Briton followed up with a sixteenth consecutive season where he led a Grand Prix.
Records are meant to be broken. And Lewis Hamilton understands that very well and applies it perfectly. Since his arrival in Formula 1, the British driver has been achieving success after success, accumulating titles and breaking records.
Some will be very difficult to attain, such as his record of pole positions, his number of victories, which he shares with Michael Schumacher, and his number of championships.
This Sunday, at Silverstone, Lewis Hamilton added another line to his very long list of achievements. By leading the British Grand Prix, after Charles Leclerc’s pit stop, the Mercedes driver continued his streak of sixteen consecutive seasons leading a race at least once.
With this new accolade, the seven-time world champion surpasses a certain Michael Schumacher, who stopped at 15 years (1992-2006). By the end of the year, the German could once again be overtaken by the British in terms of the number of Grand Prix races contested in his career. He could also add another season with a victory to his list of achievements, bringing the total to 16.
