Nikita Mazepin back behind the wheel
The former Formula 1 driver, Nikita Mazepin, has committed to a rally-raid called "Silk Road".
He is back in a car. After the abrupt end of his career when the Haas team fired him following the termination of the contract with Uralkali, which guaranteed his place in F1, the Russian found himself unemployed.
But it will have been short-lived as Nikita Mazepin has just committed to a new discipline, rally-raid. This year, he will take part in the Silk Way Rally, an event organized by the Russian and Chinese governments. “I want to officially announce that I will be participating in the Silk Way Rally. I am preparing for the race,” confirms the former single-seater driver to Sport-Express in Russia.
It will be his first experience in rally-raid, and Sergey Kariakin’s team, winner of the Dakar rally-raid in the buggy category this year, has entrusted him with this challenge.
From now on, I enjoy working with people from my foundation, but even though it takes a lot of time, I am going on the Silk Road to earn money. But if I don’t succeed, I won’t be nervous, I won’t be upset, but I will train even harder and try to do it a second time.
Mick Schumacher’s former teammate also added that he enjoys both off-road and asphalt races equally. He would have liked to participate earlier, but his schedule didn’t allow him to take part.
(I) I had been dreaming about it for a long time and now I have managed to find the time for it.
The latter will start on July 7th, in the country of Nikita Mazepin, specifically in Astrakhan, and will end on July 16th in the Russian capital.
