The Briton spoke again about the difficult and dangerous situation for his health that he experienced on the streets of Baku.
It was one of the powerful images of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton’s long exit from his Mercedes, with his hand constantly in his back to support himself.
While competing in the Canadian Grand Prix, the British driver revealed that he experienced shocks close to 10 G (10 times his body weight) during dolphin diving sequences in the Azerbaijani capital.
« There are a lot more bruises after the races today, so it takes almost the whole week to recover. When you experience rebounds with 10 G-force, like what I went through in the last Grand Prix, it’s a huge strain on the neck and back. As for the micro-concussions, I have clearly had a lot more headaches in recent months, but I have not consulted any specialists about it. I don’t take it too seriously, I simply take painkillers, he said.
The seven-time world champion asserts that the situation was becoming dangerous and that the health of the 20 drivers was at stake because of this phenomenon. Safety must be the most important thing.
A bit short in stature.
While his presence was uncertain, especially after his boss Toto Wolff’s statements, the British driver quickly denied it and is ultimately present on Notre-Dame Island. However, the Mercedes driver claims to have the feeling of being a bit short. The spinal discs are clearly not in top form. This is not good for longevity. There are things we can do to improve that, for all drivers… We don’t need long-term injuries.
During the upcoming races, slipstreaming could be reduced after the FIA decided to intervene in the name of safety. A decision that would certainly be welcomed by the back of number 44.
