George Russell signs a new top 5
The British driver continues his excellent momentum from the beginning of the season with a fifth place finish in Monaco.
This is an example of consistency at the beginning of the season. In the streets of Monaco, George Russell once again finished in the top 5, he is the only driver to have achieved this performance this season.
However, his car’s behavior didn’t make things any easier, as it was difficult to control due to the frequent bouncing on the bumps of the track. Nevertheless, Lewis Hamilton’s teammate is satisfied with this position.
“It was a tough afternoon, very physically demanding with the bumpy car ride, and a long afternoon in varied conditions. It was tricky in the wet, trying to keep the wet-weather tires for as long as possible, then I had a good battle with Lando after the pit stops – and a good pace on the hard tire,” said the British driver.
It was challenging on the medium tires in the second part of the race, with a lot of graining towards the end, but finishing P5 is still a good result. We encountered some of the limitations of our car on this track, but we learned a lot and will be able to use that in the upcoming weeks to take another step forward. Overall, it’s a good result and I’m confident that we have stronger days ahead of us.
The British driver remains in fourth place in the standings with 84 points, but his position could change depending on any potential penalties that Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez might receive.
