Sergio Perez, winner in Monaco: “A dream come true”
Winner of his third Formula 1 victory in Monaco, Sergio Perez was over the moon as he got out of his car. The Mexican dedicates his win to Pedro Rodriguez, former Mexican F1 driver.
And it’s three for Sergio Perez. One week after having to step aside in the fight for victory in Barcelona, the Mexican has made a strong comeback by winning the Monaco Grand Prix. A great pride for the Mexican, who achieves his third success in Formula 1 on the legendary circuit.
« It’s a dream come true. When you’re a driver, you dream of winning here. Aside from the Mexican Grand Prix, there’s nothing more special to me than Monaco. Winning in these conditions, after a very difficult Saturday, without making any mistakes and with the pressure of having the four cars so close [the Ferraris and Red Bulls], is incredible. » exclaimed the Mexican after the race.
At the end, I was starting to get nervous and I was very excited about the idea of winning. It’s a memorable day for me and for my country. Becoming the most victorious Mexican in F1? I am very happy about it and I dedicate it to Pedro Rodriguez (2 wins in 1967 and 1970, noted). He must be proud of what we have achieved since he passed away. “Checo” Perez added.
Thanks to his victory, the Mexican jumps up in the rankings and now trails Charles Leclerc by only six points, and his teammate Max Verstappen by fifteen.
