Verstappen, third: “We executed everything well”
Max Verstappen was over the moon after the race. Struggling this weekend, the reigning champion finishes third just ahead of Charles Leclerc and extends his lead in the championship.
This is what we call minimizing the damage. No one had thought before the race started that Max Verstappen would finish ahead of Charles Leclerc, given how large the gap between the two title contenders had been since the beginning of the weekend. However, it is indeed the Dutchman who steps onto the third step of the podium, a result that seems to satisfy him more than enough.

Thanks to this podium, the Dutchman increases his lead over Charles Leclerc even further (9 points more), but sees his teammate Sergio Perez closing in at a distance of 15 points from him.
