Sergio Perez also receives a fine
The Mexican received a fine of €10,000 for obstructing George Russell during the last free practice session.
Fines are falling from the sky this Saturday in Monaco. After Carlos Sainz and Guanyu Zhou, it’s Sergio Perez who will have to break open his piggy bank. Like the two other mentioned drivers, this new incident occurred during the last free practice session, involving George Russell.
Once again, it is the radio communications between the driver and his team that are at fault. The stewards examined the video and radio information and concluded that the information given to the driver of car 11 (Perez) was entirely focused on the car for a fast lap and did not include any information about approaching cars, explains document 44 from the FIA for the Monaco Grand Prix.
Sergio Perez therefore expects to receive a reprimand for obstructing George Russell. But, considering the previous incidents (Sainz and Zhou), the FIA has also imposed a hefty fine of €10,000 on the Mexican for this incident.
