The largest series of consecutive point arrivals
Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna or Juan Manuel Fangio. Who is the driver with the longest streak of points finishes?
Showing consistency is a real challenge. Even though cars are becoming more reliable, finishing in the points is not always easy. But reliability is not the only difficulty that drivers have to fight against, they also have to cope with piloting errors.
Recently, Carlos Sainz, who was on a streak of 17 consecutive points finishes, saw his performance come to a halt in the gravel trap of the Australian Grand Prix. However, with his record, he currently sits in 19th place in the ranking of drivers with the most consecutive points finishes.
In front of him, we find regulars on the podiums including Michael Schumacher, Sebastian, Valtteri Bottas, and Lewis Hamilton who is leading the standings. Among the drivers still active with an ongoing streak before the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix, we can mention Charles Leclerc (12) and George Russell (5).
The ranking
In this top 20, it is interesting to note that all the performances were achieved in the 21st century. To find a driver who evolved and achieved such a feat before 2000, you have to go to the 22nd position, with Carlos Reutemann with 15 consecutive finishes between the Belgian Grand Prix in 1980 and the one in 1981. After that, you have to go much further back to find Jim Clark (34th) with 12 points between Belgium 1963 and the same race the following year.
