Carlos Sainz: always lucky at home?
Since the beginning of his Formula 1 career in 2015, the Spanish driver has always delivered solid performances on the Catalan circuit. It remains to be seen whether his home race this weekend will allow him to bounce back.
Carlos Sainz will experience his eighth Spanish Grand Prix next weekend.
Arriving in the premier category of motorsport in 2015, he has since finished every race on his home soil in the points.
For his first three seasons at Toro Rosso, he finished 9th in 2015, 6th in 2016, and 7th in 2017. In 2018, for his only season with the Renault team, he crossed the line in 7th position.
During his time at McLaren, he finished 8th and 6th (in 2019 and 2020).
Finally, for the 2021 edition and its arrival at the red team of Scuderia Ferrari, he finished in a respectable 7th place.
In 2022, he finally has the opportunity to drive a high-performance car that can allow him to continue this series on his home turf. Why not dream of a first podium or even a victory, which would be his first in the premier discipline.
His success at home contrasts with that of Charles Leclerc, who has never seen the finish of his Grand Prix in Monaco since the Monégasque’s debut in 2018 with Sauber.
