New survival cell for Esteban Ocon
New parts were installed on the French driver's race car after his crash yesterday during the final free practice session.
Esteban Ocon’s accident, measured at 51 G, in the slow and technical section of the Miami circuit caused a lot of damage to his car. While his chassis was cracked, which prevented him from participating in the qualifications, a new survival cell was installed on his Alpine by his team.
« The survival cell has been replaced with the approval of the FIA technical delegate following a written request from the concerned team, in accordance with Article 40.3 of the Formula 1 sporting regulations », indicates a statement from the FIA.
