Tobias Moers, pushed by Lawrence Stroll, resigns from the management of Aston Martin
The CEO of Aston Martin, Tobias Moers, has resigned. Sources suggest that disagreements with Lawrence Stroll have pushed him to leave. He will be replaced by former Ferrari boss Amedeo Felisa.
Appointed as CEO of Aston Martin in May 2020, Tobias Moers is already leaving his position. The German has resigned, as announced by the British company this morning. The German only stayed with Aston Martin for two years, and some sources suggest strategic disagreements with Lawrence Stroll, the Canadian billionaire owner of the group and father of Formula 1 driver, Lance Stroll.
Tobias Moers could also pay for an internally perceived overly aggressive management, which had led to the departure of many executives. However, he will remain in the company until July to allow for a smooth transition to his successor, Amedeo Felisa. The Italian, former CEO of Ferrari for eight years, joined Aston Martin’s board of directors as a non-executive director in July 2021 and will now assume the role of CEO.
He is not the only Italian to join the British brand as Roberto Fedeli is also making his way to Aston Martin, coming from Ferrari, to take the position of technical director.
The first quarter figures were announced alongside Moers’ resignation. Aston Martin is experiencing a net loss of £112 million and a 14% decrease in vehicle sales. However, the increase in prices of Aston Martin models allows the company to achieve a 4% increase in its revenue. Lawrence Stroll hopes that the replacement of the CEO will help Aston Martin gain momentum.
