Yuki Tsunoda delighted with AlphaTauri’s progress

AlphaTauri arrived full of hopes for the 2022 Formula 1 season. The new regulations in force aim to improve the competitiveness of teams on the track while reducing the gap between different stables. Red Bull’s little sister has shown its willingness to fight at the upper end of the midfield, but is experiencing some setbacks.

Last season, Pierre Gasly frequently finished in the top 10 and scored over 100 points throughout his season, while his Japanese teammate only collected 32 points. Currently, Yuki Tusnoda is twelfth in the championship, with four points more than Gasly. This is largely due to the Frenchman’s retirement in Bahrain and his result in Italy.

During the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda crossed the finish line in seventh position after resisting Lance Stroll’s relentless attacks for a long time. This result surprises the Japanese driver, who did not expect such a performance.

“The car was really good,” said Tsunoda about the AlphaTauri. “We were not expecting such a performance. Especially compared to Australia, we made great progress throughout the week and I am pleased with what I have done,” he stated. It was a satisfying result even for the team boss, Franz Tost, who praised his driver after the race.

« Yuki had started in 12th position and after the first lap, he was already in 10th place. He had a very solid race, overtaking many cars and finishing in seventh place. Yuki was competitive right away. I think he now has a good foundation for the upcoming races, he stated. With 10 points in the driver standings, the Japanese driver clearly shows an improved performance compared to the previous season.
