Pierre Gasly: The improvements at Imola will be “a test” for AlphaTauri
For French driver Pierre Gasly, the improvements made on the AT03 for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix this weekend will be an important test for AlphaTauri.
Despite a retirement in the opening race in Bahrain, Pierre Gasly has accumulated six points. For the upcoming Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, AlphaTauri plans significant improvements on the AT03. While the cars are expected to be faster this weekend, Gasly sees this race as mainly a test for the team.
Last season, the Normand finished fifth in the Italian Grand Prix qualifying. This time, he hopes that AlphaTauri’s improvements will enable him to fight in the midfield.
(Personally, I can’t wait to see what it will bring), Gasly said. (It’s a new car, with new regulations). We know that for this season, everything revolves around development. The teams that develop their cars faster than the others will have a better season. It will be a big test for us, and hopefully it will bring the performance we expect).
This year, the Imola Grand Prix includes a sprint race, which means that the drivers will only have one hour of free practice on Friday before the start of official qualifying. In other words, AlphaTauri will have little time to evaluate the effectiveness of its new parts.
