Kevin Magnussen: “It was like driving on eggs”
In 2022, Haas finally scored its first points after a season at zero. In the first two races of the season, Danish driver Kevin Magnussen placed in the points. But in Australia, Haas finished in thirteenth and fourteenth places.
After a year without scoring any points, the American Haas team seemed to be slowly coming back into the race with the first two races of the season. Especially since they are currently in seventh place in the constructors’ championship. However, the VF-22s were a little more shaky in Melbourne.
If Mick Schumacher secured 13th place at the finish, his Danish teammate Kevin Magnussen could not do better than 14th place. Returning to Haas after the departure of Nikita Mazepin, Magnussen believes he encountered difficulties in recovering after his off-track excursion.
« After going off track, it felt like I was driving on raw eggs,” explained Magnussen. However, not everything was to be discarded in this race. The Danish driver revealed that he enjoyed himself on the Albert Park circuit and was involved in some battles on the track. On the team’s side, the risks taken during the race were too significant. Choosing the hard tires at the start worked against the team as two safety cars were deployed.
Despite this disappointing result, Kevin Magnussen is determined to finish in the top 10 during the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
