The 2022 single-seaters are similar to karts for Esteban Ocon
The new generation of Formula 1 has surprised the drivers, and for Frenchman Esteban Ocon, these cars are similar to go-karts.
During the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on March 27th, the Frenchman Esteban Ocon was involved in several on-track duels, whether it was with his teammate Fernando Alonso or with drivers from other teams. While the Spaniard had to retire during the race, Ocon came out satisfied with this Grand Prix.
After a few battles with Valtteri Bottas and even with Lando Norris, the Alpine driver seems to have had fun in Jeddah. He said, “It was really fun, it felt like a go-kart race.” The Frenchman believes that there were numerous opportunities for overtaking. According to him, the drivers had two or three chances per lap to gain a position in the standings.
« You must open up a gap at the right moment, and you know that if you don’t, the cars behind you will be able to use the DRS to overtake you. In Melbourne, we have a lot of DRS, so we could have another very interesting race. » admitted Ocon.
The driver has every reason to be satisfied, as he clinched the sixth place in the ranking in Jeddah.
