Daniel Ricciardo responds to Christian Horner about his departure from Red Bull

Last week, the current team principal of Red Bull admitted that he still doesn’t understand Daniel Ricciardo’s departure. The Australian driver raced with Red Bull between 2014 and 2018, but at the end of the 2018 season, he announced his departure from the team to join Renault. While one regrets this choice, the other, on the other hand, affirms having made the right decision.

According to Christian Horner, this departure happened at the worst possible time, considering that Red Bull entered into a partnership with Honda the following season. Having Honda as an engine supplier changed the game for the Austrian team, allowing them to compete against the reigning champion, Mercedes.

(D) There are many things that made me feel discomfort or a lack of stability,” admitted Daniel Ricciardo. (D) I imagine that when you break it down, it makes sense, but I completely understand why people say (D) you shouldn’t have done that (F) or things like that. It was expected and I can’t say that it bothers me. Things are what they are. (F).

The driver also responded to Horner, explaining that it wasn’t just the lack of power in the car that made him leave, but also what was happening internally. And even though the star driver of the Austrian team won the world championship title last year, Ricciardo remains firm and asserts that he does not regret his decision.
