Ocon is confident with the evolution of the Alpine engine

At the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Alpine offered the spectators a great battle between its two drivers, with one constantly overtaking his teammate. But in the end, Spanish driver Fernando Alonso had to stop and retire from the race due to a technical issue, while French driver Esteban Ocon secured sixth place in the rankings.

During his race, Ocon had the opportunity to compete against other drivers, namely Nico Hülkenberg and Lando Norris. And for the Alpine driver, there is no doubt that the car has the ability to fight during the races.

« Good. I mean, we’re not afraid of anyone anymore,” he said about the Renault engine. « As soon as I had the DRS open, I was able to pass, I easily overtook Nico’s Aston, Lando in the McLaren. Who else? Fernando was there, of course. I can compare to many cars and it went very well for us,” the Frenchman assured.

On the other hand, the battle with George Russell was a different story, to the extent that the Alpine driver still considers himself behind Mercedes. And this is despite the somewhat disappointing results of the German team. He [Russell] was faster than us. He didn’t pull away as much as we thought, but he was pulling away compared to us, added Ocon. So they still have a better race pace and it’s clearly something we will have to work on.
