Mika Hakkinen: Pérez will be more “confident”
Sergio Pérez has achieved the first pole position of his career in Saudi Arabia. For Mika Hakkinen, the Mexican driver is gaining confidence.
When he started with Red Bull, Sergio Pérez was consistently slower than his teammate, Max Verstappen. But in the beginning of the season, he seems to have adapted very well to the new cars, to the point of securing the first pole position of his career in Saudi Arabia.
According to double Formula 1 world champion Mika Hakkinen, Sergio Perez is making the most of his RB18 to seize every opportunity that comes his way. Last year, the Mexican was mostly seen as Max Verstappen’s reinforcement, but that could change if he continues to evolve.
Hakkinen added that Pérez has everything to arrive confidently in Melbourne. (He) I think Checo can take the most positive from this weekend. He will have even more confidence after finally getting this first pole position. The Finn stated.
Furthermore, Sergio Pérez is the first Mexican driver to achieve a pole position. He could therefore play a major role in Red Bull’s title race this season.
