George Russell ready to “take risks”

During the Bahrain Grand Prix, Mercedes had to fight to eventually secure a podium finish after both Red Bulls retired. Although the German team is currently behind Ferrari and Red Bull, George Russell has no intention of letting it last.

For the 2022 season, the British Russell left Williams to replace Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes. The Silver Arrows team is experiencing a particularly difficult start to the season, knowing that the W13 cars are not yet performing at their best level. For Russell, this bad position is not much different from the one he had at Williams.

Personally, I feel like I’m in the same position as in recent years, lamented Russell. Our competitors at the front are so far ahead. But we still have a small space behind where we can afford to take a little more risk to close the gap, he admitted.

However, the driver is aware of the challenges that the team is facing and has specifically mentioned that Ferrari and Red Bull are faster. Nevertheless, Russell remains confident in Mercedes.
