Can Sebastian Vettel come back to Saudi Arabia?
Absent from the Bahrain Grand Prix last weekend due to the Coronavirus, Sebastian Vettel's participation in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this week is not guaranteed.
The four-time world champion was unable to participate in the opening round of the 2022 season. He tested positive for Coronavirus a few days after Daniel Ricciardo, and the German driver was replaced by Nico Hülkenberg in Bahrain. As for a return to the circuit in Jeddah this weekend, it is uncertain for Aston Martin. This was revealed by the team principal of the team, Mike Krack.
« He participated in the debriefing, he seemed less nervous than he was a few days ago,” admitted Mike Krack. « But we don’t know. We’ll see how he is in the coming days. We hope he’ll be back soon,” he specified before adding that Vettel would be subjected to the health protocols of the host country and those specific to Aston Martin.
« A little bit of both, but to be honest, I don’t know the Saudi rules 100%. If he has a negative test, it will be easy. It’s better to have it now than in two weeks. » Mike Krack concluded.
As for his replacement, Nico Hülkenberg, he will indeed be present in Saudi Arabia. « I don’t know. I will go [to Jeddah] as a reserve anyway, I think we will know on Thursday or Friday. ».
