The Ferrari engines impress Pierre Gasly
Some teams in the paddock are powered by Ferrari, like Haas or Alfa Romeo. And while Ferrari was behind in the past two seasons, their engines seem to be competitive again.
During the free practice sessions this Friday, the Ferrari-powered teams performed quite well in terms of lap times. Indeed, Valtteri Bottas’ Alfa Romeo achieved the sixth fastest time, while both Haas cars made it into the top 10.
Since the winter tests, the Ferrari Scuderia has been one of the most productive on the track, and the results of the F1-75 during the free practice sessions in Bahrain have not changed the situation. It seems that the teams with Italian engines are doing well, as explained by AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly.
(I) “I think Haas is really not bad,” he confides. (I) “For me, that’s how I saw them. When I saw the times they set during winter testing, I knew they were really fast laps. Then, trying to gather a bit of information here and there, I heard that they were very fast,” Gasly reveals.
And as for power units, Ferrari stands out.
« Especially the Ferrari engines, we see the Alfa Romeo, they are in front with Bottas, we see the Haas that are very fast. », admits the Normand. « In any case, we know that for us, in the midfield, it’s going to be much harder than last year because I think that apart from Williams, everyone else has caught up and that’s why we will have to try to find more performance than what we showed tonight. », declares Pierre Gasly.
This Saturday, Gasly set the thirteenth best time in FP3 with a time of 1:34.176, two tenths behind the day’s leader, Max Verstappen.
