Grosjean happy for Magnussen, even if he doesn’t miss F1
Former Formula 1 driver for Haas, Romain Grosjean reacts to his former teammate's recent comeback.
Romain Grosjean’s accident will always remain in people’s memories. On November 29, 2020, the Frenchman was involved in a terrifying crash on the Bahrain circuit. Traveling at over 200 km/h, he collided with the safety barrier. It was a close call for a much more tragic outcome, thanks in part to the halo introduced by the FIA in 2015, under the leadership of Jean Todt. While Grosjean managed to escape from his engulfed car, this accident marked the end of his Formula 1 career.
However, the Frenchman didn’t stop racing and is now competing in the American IndyCar circuit. The former Haas driver spoke about the return of his former teammate, Kevin Magnussen.
Let’s remember, the war in Ukraine has had a direct impact on the American team. Firstly, Haas has chosen to remove its Russian sponsor, Uralkali, from its race car. A few days later, the Russian driver Nikita Mazepin found himself on the chopping block. He quickly paid the price for this war, as the team terminated his contract. After a year of absence, Danish driver Kevin Magnussen is therefore returning to his place within the team.
And of course, Romain Grosjean did not miss this comeback. He reacted to this by saying that he was very happy for his former teammate, even though they didn’t always get along. “I think it’s amazing, I’m very happy for Kevin. He’s really a good person, even though we didn’t always see eye to eye on racing with a teammate. We had a few clashes on the track, but we talked about it and from then on, everything was going very well,” he said.
I think that for Mick Schumacher, he will have a teammate with a lot of experience in Formula 1, who is very fast. Kevin’s biggest strength is that he can always drive the car as it is. He will do it, the car doesn’t need to be perfect for him to be fast. He will manage with it. I hope Haas gives him a competitive car, Grosjean says.

As for a potential return to Formula 1, Romain Grosjean is firm. « It has been an extremely important part of my life, but now I am moving on to the next chapter, and that next chapter is winning races and attempting to win the championship. »
The American competition seems to appeal to the French. « I am very happy in the United States and also very happy in IndyCar. I am really excited every weekend to go racing and go for the win, concluded the Franco-Belgian.
