Pierre Gasly: How to set up the AT03?

The drivers only have one day left to give their best on the track and test every little adjustment before the end of the winter testing in Bahrain.

This Saturday morning, Pierre Gasly took control of the AT03 before handing over his place to Yuki Tsunoda this afternoon. But even with very good times on the Sakhir track, the Normandy native believes that there are still adjustments to be made to achieve maximum performance.

He opened up about his feelings. « So far, I would say it has been mixed, he admits. « Of course, we managed to set some decent lap times towards the end of the day, we tested a lot of things, tried new parts, and tried to understand how to set up the car. It’s true that for now, there is still a lot of work to do, I think we shouldn’t get too excited about the times we’ve seen, recounts Gasly.

As for the car’s behavior, AlphaTauri’s driver believes that the new regulations make the adjustments to be made on the AT03 unclear.

And there you have it, it’s more in terms of sensations: for now, I’m not completely satisfied with the car’s behavior, so we’re going to try to improve that. Because actually, today we don’t know how to adjust this car to optimize it. We have settings that we think are correct, but we have a lot of things to test […], and we only have three days here, admits the Norman.

Compared to last season, the changes are not so impressive for Pierre Gasly.

« There isn’t a big change. I think it’s really a feeling to catch with the car. It’s true that for now, on our side, it’s not simple, it’s a bit more complicated than last year, he says. But after that, it’s normal, it’s the beginning of the season, as I said, there are still a lot of things to learn, I’m sure we’ll be able to improve it in the early part of the season. I just really hope that we have a solid foundation that allows us to fight for points next week. »
