Haas cannot race this Sunday
Due to the delay this week, the Gene Haas team lost half a day of testing. The FIA granted Haas the right to drive outside of the permitted hours for the other drivers.
With a plane breakdown in Turkey, cars blocked in London, and a last-minute change of pilot, Haas has had its fair share of twists and turns. If the FIA were to grant them Sunday to make up for lost time, Haas will have to make do with three additional evenings.
Mick Schumacher and Pietro Fittipaldi should have started this Thursday morning in Bahrain. But the delay accumulated with transportation issues deprived them of the first part of the tests. The International Automobile Federation could have allowed the drivers to race this Sunday. However, some competing teams decided otherwise.
Indeed, several teams in the paddock have opposed this decision, stating that tests cannot last more than three days.
The FIA therefore had to find another solution to allow the American driver to drive the necessary time for testing. This is why Haas should be allowed to send its drivers on the track from 7pm for the next three days. It remains to be seen how the team will organize its schedule, considering that Pietro Fittipaldi will be on the track this Thursday afternoon.
