Valtteri Bottas ready to show the “best of himself” at Alfa Romeo
Replacing his compatriot Kimi Räikkönen, Valtteri Bottas is making his entry at Alfa Romeo. And for this season, far from the shadow of Lewis Hamilton, he says he is ready to be the best version of himself.
After five seasons with Mercedes and five constructor titles, Valtteri Bottas has been transferred to Alfa Romeo for the 2022 season, making way for the British driver George Russell. Frédéric Vasseur, team principal of the team, believes that this transfer could be beneficial for Bottas, as he has the opportunity to reveal his full potential without being in the shadow of Lewis Hamilton. And the Finn seems to have a good feeling about his new team.
« As a pilot, I think that we never stop learning as long as we still want to. Bottas says, « So of course, I am always looking for areas to improve. I feel that now I can simply be the best version of myself, instead of trying to be someone else and trying too hard.
Alfa Romeo is undergoing a makeover this season, by welcoming two new drivers. While one of them already has significant experience in Formula 1, the second one, Guanyu Zhou, is fresh off Formula 2.
« We are together in this, reveals Bottas about his new teammate and reserve driver, Robert Kubica. « Of course, I can guide them, I think I have had some experiences in the past. In the end, we are all together with Guanyu, Robert, and the whole team. After the last winter tests in Barcelona, Bottas concluded that there is still a lot of work left for the team before the start of the 2022 season. The next step for Alfa Romeo’s C42 is the Bahrain tests, which will start this Thursday, March 10th.
