Helmut Marko is expecting two major competitors in 2022
After last season's battle between Mercedes and Red Bull, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko sees a new contender coming.
The 2021 season was fiercely contested by Mercedes and Red Bull. Both teams put on a show throughout the year, without facing any real competition on the grid. For this new season, Helmut Marko (Red Bull advisor) expects a renewed battle between the two same leaders: Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
But a third team could join the two front-runners. According to Marko, the Scuderia Ferrari could make an unexpected and dangerous comeback for Red Bull and Mercedes. During the Barcelona tests, the F1-75 looked in great shape, as did its two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
Indeed, the Italian team, which remained very discreet in 2020, slowly made a comeback in the last season, culminating in a podium finish at the final Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. The tests in Barcelona displayed a significant improvement in the red car, which is why Helmut Marko expects some impressive performances from Scuderia and its drivers.
